Reasons for Having Warts – Best Treatments Available in New York

Warts are those common complaints that are found in many people in the US. They are those unusual-looking extra skin growths that come over the skin of your feet or hand. The main cause of them is a virus that penetrates your skin through some cuts or some other way.

There are two types of warts:

  • One that is formed on the feet is called the plantar wart
  • Others that are formed on the palm are called palmer warts.

Plantar warts are usually not harmful, but they can cause some irritation or pain and sometimes even bleeding. Especially it can cause harm to your feet as the weight of your body puts pressure on that area and makes that skin look thick and callused.

About Plantar Warts and Palmar Warts

Plantar warts and palmar warts are non-cancerous skin growths that are caused by a viral infection. This virus is called the human papillomavirus or HPV. These are not similar to the ones that are found in genital warts. They are not harmful, and eventually, after two years, they might go away on their own.

Plantar and palmar warts are very small in size, and some may look big. They grow in clusters, and they are called mosaic warts. In most of the warts, you can see a black dot on that wart which is actually a little blood vessel that then grows up into a wart.

Causes of Wart Transmission

The HPV virus that is found in plantar warts is not that highly transmissible. In fact, many people who come in contact with this virus usually do not develop warts.

HPV is the virus that thrives usually in moist environments, especially in places like swimming pools and locker rooms. So, when the swimmers walk around in such areas barefoot, then they are at high risk of contracting this virus. Once this virus enters your skin, it will then move ahead to other sites of your body too.

Plantar warts are commonly found in people like:

  • Children and teenagers
  • People with weak immune system
  • People who have plantar warts previously
  • People who don’t wear any footwear.

Treatments of Warts

As mentioned above, warts usually go away on their own. If they don’t, then they can be treated in the following ways:

  • You can put a strip of duct tape on the wart and then leave it over for 6 days. Later, you can remove it and then soak your wart in warm water and rub it off with the pumice stone. Though this will not go away on the first try, you need to repeat this process. It will take a couple of months for this wart to go away.
  • You can rub some over-the-counter ointments, which usually include salicylic acid. This peels off the wart. Another option is the freezing spray that will kill off the tissue.
  • Lastly is the laser or surgery or applying the injecting medicines to strengthen the immune system. Visit the doctor in New York for better suggestions.
